The first book of the Christian Bible’s Old Testament begins with these words. I like to complete this thought with the expression, “LOVE without end.” I long ago realized that as an allegory the Bible – the basis of my religious orientation as a child – contains much truth, but relatively few facts. As I grew to understand and interpret this book of wisdom metaphysically, I learned to apply many of its lessons to my own life. I also came to understand “God” as the Creative Force of Life, which is Love. And LOVE is the essence of all there ever has been, is, and will be. Love is the essence of who I am, and who you are.
If this belief is true, then why, many people wonder, is there so much hatred and the undesirable results it spews in our lives and world, all around us, every day? If, as many believe, God is good and ultimately all there is, how can we make understand all the “not good” that we face all the time?
As the Biblical story goes, God gave humankind the ultimate ability to make the lives we choose. We were blessed (perhaps cursed?) with FREE WILL. And that power (which we so often abuse by choosing evil rather than good) has gotten us where we are. Free will, the ability to choose that determines our life’s course, demands something of us that few accept. It demands we take RESPONSIBILITY for our lives – the good and the not good.
What most of us choose, most of the time, is JUDGING. And the result of judging – good vs. bad, beautiful vs. ugly, pro vs. con, right vs. wrong, and so on – is that we tend to see anything or anyone we view as unlike us, as “other than.” And invariably that “other than” is somehow lacking. The lack, however measured - goodness, prosperity, health, relationships, or something else – we perceive as bad, wrong, or less than. We judge ALL THE TIME, even the most innocuous things. It’s what our humanity has grown expert at doing! Take a second: what are you judging right now?
When we judge, ourselves or others, we then may feel the need to forgive. If we don’t judge – as is the case with God – then there’s no need to forgive. Think what a different kind of world we’d experience if no one judged! No judgment would allow LOVE/God to reign supreme. And our earthly experience would be heaven, right here and right now.
Perhaps our universal and most basic judgment – for those who believe in such concepts as heaven and hell – is that heaven is the reward “good” people get after their time of toiling on this earth plane has ended. Therefore, earth is bad/heaven is good. Wow! Think about the implications for that foundational belief.
Yet because we have free will, we can choose to enjoy heaven every day we live! Our minds our so empowered. Conversely, we can choose hell and experience a lousy, rotten, hellish day/life. Far too many of us, far too often, are unconscious of our inherent power to manifest what we desire. But when we wake up and REMEMBER that as children of God, created in God’s likeness, we can manifest the loving experiences we may have reserved for that “place” we idealize as heaven. And we can do that right here, today.
When Jesus walked this earthly plane, he demonstrated what such a life would model. And as our Master Teacher taught us, everything he did, we can do – and more! So give it a try. I attempt to operate that way every day. And most days, most of the time, the results are positive experiences. If I can do it, surely so can you! Give it a try and let me know how the results.
Namaste!
Although turning base metals into gold is not my work today, as a 21st century alchemist I help individuals transform their lives into expressions of the spiritual magnificense they wer born to manifest.
What a delight this book is! I felt as though I was having a conversation in my living room. A very smart conversation with great information and offering a new, fresh perspective. Trammell shares her very personal stories about her life and journey. Even those unfamiliar with New Thought ideas and philosophy will find this book very interesting and informative. I always reach out when I’m going through a transformation (which I am at this time), and it helps to know that others have gone through difficult times and not only survived but thrived. What a gift to find this small, powerful book right now. It feels like a friendly hand to hold and guide me. Susan not only has done her research and offers fascinating references and quotes, but she’s “been there, done that” as well. I will definitely be checking out her other books!
The Sacred Alchemy of Love is a companion book that complements the author's earlier Secrets of a 21st Century Alchemist. When ordered together, these two books will enhance their reader's understanding of spiritual metaphysics.
In this final book of a 3-series set on the ancient practice of ALCHEMY, or transforming something less to something greater, author Susan T. Trammell explores the powerful transformative and healing processes involved in our most intimate relationships. Even in ancient times alchemy was less about changing base metals into gold than it was about expanding human consciousness. For anyone on a spiritual journey - or any other kind of journey for that matter - this is a MUST read!
Now under a single cover, this trilogy includes Susan Trammell's series of ALCHEMY books: Secrets of a 21st Century Alchemist; The Sacred Alchemy of Love; and Outrageous Loving! Author, speaker, teacher, and coach, SUSAN TRUETT TRAMMELL brings an inspirational and transformational message to her readers. Each book in this trilogy emphasizes how self-inquiry is critical to personal growth and awakening to our potential as human beings whose essence is spiritual. Susan offers readers challenging questions to consider, answers to ponder, and ideas to contemplate.
Anyone who has suffered a loss or break-up/break-down of any kind (death, loss of a pet, loss of a job, depression, etc.) will benefit from this book that provides a variety of ways to move from pain to gain. Readers will learn to redefine themselves positively by releasing attachments, the need to control, resistance to what is, and other limiting behaviors.
“Nice book and easily understood. I don't like books that I have to have a dictionary next to me.”
For centuries science and religion often have been viewed as in direct conflict. Now recent discoveries in the field of quantum physics are dissolving those perceived differences and revealing the similarities between (indeed, the intersection of) these two disciplines. Mind over Matter dispels the outdated belief that the nature of reality is not that conceived by so many for so long-from early Greek philosophers to Newtonian physics and even some twentieth-century science. Quantum science's most recent discoveries about the non-material aspects of energy have now overtaken such outmoded thinking and the belief that our universe is material in nature. As consciousness becomes the focus for so many, we are being guided to a radical and evolutionary understanding of what "God" and similar creative concepts may mean. Our understanding of what and why we are, and the role consciousness plays in both science and spirituality, is challenging us all to question old beliefs and practices that are no longer relevant. Spiritual metaphysician, Susan Trammell, invites her readers to engage in a new kind of conversation about what it truly means to be spiritual beings experiencing humanity. New revelations await anyone eager to positively influence the tipping point at which we find ourselves and our planet. Discover the means by which you individually and our collective human race can determine the future of generations to come. Written for non-scientifically educated individuals, Mind over Matter offers everyone a path forward through a fusion of scientific discoveries and spiritual relevance. In this age of chaos and confusion, may we intentionally engage in opening our minds to be all that we've come to be.
